"A Whole Lot of Sole" Cocktail Party

 Please join us for "A Whole Lot of Sole" cocktail party at the Buttonwoods Museum on Saturday Oct 17th at 630pm. Come explore the Buttonwoods Museum and enjoy the company of friends, meet new neighbors, network with the young professionals as we celebrate art, history and community. This casual, adults-only evening at the Buttonwoods Museum, located at 240 Water Street in Haverhill MA, will "shoecase" the fourteen life size whimsical and vividly painted Soles of Haverhill fiberglass shoes as they come together one last time before they take their final steps and head to the Bradford Country Club for the gala auction event that will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 630 pm.

The night will feature new exhibits created by the Haverhill Historical Society of the shoemaking history of Haverhill. "Queen Slipper City Haverhill" draws upon the Haverhill Historical Society’s extensive collection of artifacts selected to represent the time period of the earliest shoemaking efforts in 1640 to the final shoe shop days in 1991. Awards and photos of the shoes Haverhill was once famous for creating will be proudly displayed. Throughout the exhibition visitors will be surprised and intrugued by the numerous images of the unusual, colorful vintage shoes on display. 

"Solely our Heritage" is an oral history and photo journalism exhibit compiled by teen members of the Haverhill Boys and Girls Club under the direction of artist Sharon Silverman. Photos and film will display elders from the community sharing their stories and experiences of working in the shoe mills through the decades. Hear the memorable tales of shoes made for celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy and Diana Ross and the Supremes as told by the seniors. This is a unique and fascinating exhibit of expressions, impressions, and memories captured on film.

The results of these exhibits are both intriguing and diverse. a must-visit for tourists looking for a hip, historic, authentic and entertaining experience. Loads of mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres with a complimentary glass of champagne will be served . A cash bar is available and will boast an amazing "Shoe-labration" Ice Sculpture cocktail luge.
